Keep it simple sister!
Day 1 of my second week of a Daniel Fast. Fasting is like a super clear telephone line. The crackle of life fades away into utter quiet and you can hear! Prayer becomes like a mobile headset that never turns off. I'm waiting for the big instructions or revelations, but until then, it's a constant stream of communication from God today. Not all fasting days are like that, don't get me wrong. But today it went like this...pray for this...I love you child...pray for these people...aren't those cardinals (male & female) beautiful against the snow, they're my gift to you today...I want to work in this situation, let prayer release it...etc. Do you hear Him? Do you want to? I am ruined for anything else here on earth. My instructions to keep it simple today are about being careful while on a fast to not make it be all about the food. I drank my 2 liters of water, had blackberries for breakfast, an organic salad for lunch (more about that later), and had cooked green beans, red pepper slices, and cucumbers for supper. That's it: simple! The organic salad was courtesy of a trip to my local health food market. I went for organic celery because I read that celery is one of the biggest offenders of harboring pesticides. Their celery was expensive and limp. I don't know about you, but even though I know avoiding the chemicals is best, if it costs too much or seems inferior, I won't buy it. I am slowy sliding towards organic mostly because I have been poisoned in the past several years and have recently suffered many health issues because of food and environmental chemicals. So that's a topic for another day. I got a container of mixed organic greens, a nice change from my usual romaine. I also got a container of pea shoots. Think sprouts, but like biting into a fresh pea pod from the garden in April, one of the first things edible. A sprinkling of sprouted sunflower seeds and grated carrot with balsamic vinegar drizzle and you have it.
