Practice What You Preach
Remember how life waylays the best of plans? So this morning I remembered that visiting my grandmother for lunch means dealing with dragging my cut veggies and hummus along while everyone else (my kids and mother) eat what Grandma has prepared for us. I took my food along fully intending to explain why I couldn't eat whatever was on the table. She had made potato corn soup, all good minus the dairy...I didn't have the heart to explain I couldn't eat it. I gratefully ate, but passed on the buttermilk biscuits and homemade chocolate chip cookies that also made their rounds and no one commented. So I humbly admit that yes, the Lord does make exceptions. It's just not usually when you have a headache or stomach rumble and NEED that cup of coffee or donut while on your fast. I know it was the Lord's "permission" because otherwise I would feel guilty and tempted to let one "slip" end the fast. I feel neither, but still very close to Him today. As I was finishing my run in the late afternoon haze of winter, a tiny bit of pale rainbow appeared in the sky. It was my daily "I love you" from the Lord because it was so unexpected and unusual for a cloudy day. If I look for it, He daily declares it!

ReplyDeleteBlessings on your blog!
Thanks Kristi! I am new to blogging and I remember your blog as one of the first that I read on a fairly regular basis. Your homeschooling thoughts were always right on and inspiring. Blessings to you, too!
